Its Windows!

Strengths: Works well big upgrade over Win 98 and 2000.

Weakness: These are well known and I don't need to repeat them

The OEM edition is a great buy for anyone who wants to put windows on a computer without a microsoft OS. Reactivation isn't a problem. I've had to reactivate mine a number of times as I have swapped components, but only once have I had to call microsoft and I got through quickly and was given a new activation code without a problem.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2

Strengths: It works, but only for one activation. After that, you deal with Microsoft.

Weakness: Only one activation. Every other OEM XP software I have bought has at least five before you have to call Microsoft.

If you are trying out different motherboards/hardware configurations, stay away from XP software that only allows one activation before dealing with Microsoft's questioners. This limitation should be prominently displayed so that purchasers could decide if the "come-on" price is worth it.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2

Strengths: stable, fast, user friendly

Weakness: requires a fast system, lacks some useful utilities from win 98 and 2000

Definitely the most stable, user friendly microsoft operating system yet. Requires large amounts of ram, and takes up more hard drive space than any past microsoft os, but runs smoothly and multi-tasks well.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2

Strengths: Nice stable OS.

Weakness: Has a lot of colorful and pathetic things that make the system lose performance.

I popped in the cd and loaded this home version of xp on a newly built system. I have used xp pro before and to tell you the truth i really could not tell the difference. Apparently the differences are with digital media and stuf like that. Anyway it loads quickly and it inlcudes the first service pack. After installation you are ready to go with probably the most compatible os invented. In stall...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2

Strengths: I upgraded from Windows ME and this version is considerably more stable.

Weakness: Updating of a few drivers was required and even an unofficial work around to allow continued usage of a scanner, not compatible with Windows XP.

Overall I am very impressed with this operating system compared with previous Windows versions. For best efficiency, maximize your RAM. I would advise using 1 GB of RAM for multitasking programs.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2

Strengths: One of the best MS windows OS in use today.

Weakness: Once in a while older programs do not respond. User needs to down load new drivers or buy latest version of program in use or problematic code.

I have use the professional version and so far I may say that this is one of best OS microsoft have developed. I advise to use all the memory you can afford. I have one Gig of ram and feels very solid multitasking with several demanding programs.

XP home

Strengths: Its alot better than win98 and winME. Secure, Stable, nice design, user friendly.

Weakness: Of course it has weaknesses its made by microsoft. usual crashes, lockups, upgrade errors..but hey thats windows.

If you haven't already upgraded to windows XP then trust me when I tell you, its time. If you want the cheap version then buy XP home but it lacks XP professional's server, business, and Windows Servers support just to name a few. Other than that, you can do everything with XP home, internet, word processing, games...etc. I use XP home for my kids computers, because they don't need the more...
