Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Nice multimedia support. Fast and reliable once set up correctly.

Weakness: Security Flaws. Backdoors..

I exclusively run WinME on all my machines because it was the last version of Windows that give the user a choice of installed components. I've read some of the comments about WindowsME and most of them are cause by a poorly setup PC. WinME installs best on a blank PC.(freshly formatted) HDD. Furthermore adding a partition for the SWAP file increases stability on *ANY* Windows platform. If you...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Best of the DOS based Microsoft O.S.

This is like Windows 98 on steroids.System restore like XP. I haven't had any problems with it. I think some of the reveiws that say it's trash wouldn't be happy with any o.s.But that's just my opinion. You know if your computer isn't configured properly or you try to get by with minimum system requirements you'll problely encounter problems. At least with system restore if everything was working...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: none

Weakness: everything

I purchased a computer with this OS and let me tell you, I have never been so frustrated, disgusted, and dissappointed with a product in all my life. The straw that finally "BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK" for me was when my explorer crashed 3 weeks ago. I started experiencing freeze ups and having to shut down my computer by turning off the power every time it froze, that was maybe once or twice a...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Features like My pictures, slide show and Image preview. ME has many more than 98. Actually, other than the MANY diagnostic tools, and the stronger stability of WIN XP, ME is the same damn thing.

Weakness: Yea, ME crashes… but so what? If you know how to compute, you wont lose anything if you are careful.

It’s all about memory. If you have enough RAM, you are good to go on this OS. As far as XP goes, if you crash your Hard drive, YOU’RE SCREWED! You can only load XP once. Then the almighty Microsoft gods will deny you to reload XP! If you reconfigure your OS too many times by adding or deleting hard drives or disc drives XP shuts down. Do you really want that? I know I don’t! I love my ME. I...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Not many. It looks cooler than 98se

Weakness: Millions of weaknesses. Crashes and freezes all the time. Continously gets the windows blue screen of death.

Overall this os completey blows. It sucks. There aren't even any words to describe how bad this os is. Ever since the first week i got it on my dell system it has crashed and froze. It has to many bugs to count. The only thing it has going for it is that it looks neater and cooler than 98se and has a few more options. System restore is a joke. I had to use it a couple of times and then one time i...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: many

Weakness: few

This is what 98 should have been, 98 was plaged by stupid things, like web view never really turning off and such, win me takes a couple steps back to the way 95 looked and worked while at the same time fixing the bugs in 98 and some new things as well. and to top it all off they finally stopped dos from loading first, kind of.the looks are shinyer, the network runs better, it boots and performs...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: NONE

Weakness: Everything

Win ME is just Win98 with more bugs! It is terrible. ME is the single worst OS that I have used in my life. If you are going to use windows, you should upgrade to an NT based OS(such as 2000 Professional Or XP). Otherwise LINUX RULES! Dos based operating systems are crap!

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Operating system is heavy on the hardware but worth it

Weakness: Upgrading from 98 causes some serious problems

This is a great operating system and I would recommend everyone upgrade. However if you upgrade from 98, I would recommend reformatting your hard drive and doing a clean install. I had some serious problems when running the upgrade from Windows 98 to ME. Performance suffered to the point of which you couldn't use the computer. A few other notes, in some instances backwards compatibility isn't...

Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition Complete Product

Strengths: Smooth, fast and prettier than any previous OS. Handles high speed com good and easy to maintain.

Weakness: Must clean the reg after installing alot of new software and defrag weekly when playing games.

This OS is not as good as the XP Pro, but perfect for the general user. Like anything else, keep it clean and defragged and it will serve you perfectly.
