Software Name: Mac OS X v.10.4 Tiger
Upgrade Information: Not Applicable
Strengths: Nice features
Weakness: Uhhh... not much game titles for this OS
WINDOWS definately still is the bset choice for hardcore gamers. Hard to find good&new games that is compatible for MAC & Linux. MAC is a great OS overall. But not recommended for gamers. The search feature is really really advance. Overall, a neat/nice improvement over the last MAC-OS.
Strengths: Spotlight is a great feature. Dashboard is cute. Seemless transition to the new OS.
Weakness: None so far.
I helped install Mac OS-X Tiger (10.4) onto my girlfriend's iBook which I use frequently as well. The upgrade went smoothly, and despite the iBook being 2.5 years old and with only 256MB memory Tiger seems to work well without any slowdown or clunkiness. We were also happy that the airport connection seems slightly improved over the old version she had - more bars to the same access points...
Strengths: Installation with older version 10.1.5 was straightforward (select move preferences vs. deleting the old OS). New features seem to be strong. Faster than old OS.
Weakness: None so far.
Overall, Tiger is better than the older 10.1.5. All three kids have already adapted to it. Also, you need the newer version to support the latest iTunes which in turn is needed for the iPOD nano and video. It did not cause any problems with old files, which was particularly important with the photos and songs already on the machine. Have not subscribed to .mac and am not sure I want to backup the...
Strengths: Fewer crashes & freezes. Safari is great! Haven't learned all the tricks yet, but it seems to be doing everything I want it to.
Weakness: My printer manufacturers aren't yet posting drivers updated to 10.4. There seems to be a color shift in outputs from 10.2 to 10.4.
I upgraded from 10.2, and this is definitely an improvement. The system seems very stable, with fewer freezes. I tend to get too many windows and applications open at one time, and the system seems to work right along with me wihout slowing down until I've gotten REALLY carried away!
Strengths: Dashboard, Spotlight, Mail, Expose, Safari, Security, etc....
Weakness: None to think of
This is by far the best Operating System. The speed at which tiger plows through processes is amazing. Even on my older Mac machine this OS flies. Dashboard is by far my favorite and most used of the new updates. However, I am sure that once I need to start searching my older documents, Spotlight will be the most used. Spotlight searches so fast, before you can even finish typing it is already...
Strengths: Appearance, fast, great search capability
Weakness: pricey, not enough software
The newest OS X is by far the best Operating system I have used so far... I have tried all the windows products, Linux, OS warp, etc... but I like the usability, speed of this software and would recommend anyone interested to upgrade their computer.
Strengths: spotlight
Weakness: performs best on newer computers
This is a solid upgrade from Apple, with some features that will become more and more important to you only after you begin using them. (The Spotlight search feature tops the list.) At first, it may not seem to be as big a deal as the marketers have made it, but for the price, it's absolutely worth the purchase. And once you customize your "Dashboard", you computer seems to have even more of a...
Strengths: Easy to install and use, good parent control features for controlling email and website access. Most features are easy to pick-up when trying.
Weakness: I experienced one minor problems with the software as received in the box. After checking and installing the latest updates to version 10.4.4 things were fine.
I was using one of the first version of OS X 10.2. This version 10.4 seems much improved. Be sure after installing to check for and install the latest updates, currently version 10.4.4. The version that was shipping was 10.4.2. I did have some minor problems with the shipped version, but after updating with the latest updates I haven't had any problems. For my older Epson ink jet printer I didn't...
Strengths: Fast delivery, product as advertised, helpful information provided with delivery
Weakness: None
The Tiger upgrade was promptly delivered for a fair price and installation proceeded smoothly. I rate the seller as excellent. A hardcopy of installation instructions was provided to aid in upgrade.
We have mixed feeling about Tiger, with certain elements spoiling the party

Mac OS X 10.4.3 Version
Strengths: More features than Panther and worth the upgrade.
Weakness: None So Far.
I have been using my iMac G3 running OS 9 for five years and was pleased with this operating system. I decided to upgrade my computer and bought in April, 2005 a new iMac G5 with OS X 10 (Panther) and again was impressed with the performance of Panther. I was disappointed that two months later the new iMac’s came out with Tiger and a 250 hard drive at a cheaper price, my timing was off by two...
