Strengths: Easy to install/use

Weakness: Somewhat pricey

Taxcut is great software. Not only does it make doing your taxes easy, but it helps you to get a greater refund check! Also, if you ever run into problems, "you've got people" in H&R Block.

Worth the price - excellent tax prep software

Strengths: Easy import of previous years, supports imports from other tax programs, deduction calculator finds TONS of deductions I miss, and I know what I am doing

Weakness: No longer a free e-file so either buy this version with e-file included for both federal and state, or pay later.

Strengths: free efile , easy to use

Solid software

Strengths: Accuracy, help from professionals

Weakness: got a different result through turbotax

While for years I have always considered TaxCut to be the better product than TurboTax, this year I input my data into both and TurboTax gives a larger refund amount! Now I have to figure out which is wrong. If you ever need help, it's very easy to do so through H&R Block. That is the main reason I prefer TaxCut. It's a great software with better support.

Taxcut2006

Strengths: No mail-in rebate for e-file. Easy navigation.

Weakness: None.

I bought Taxcut 2006 because I liked it last year. Data were transferred from last year's Taxcut file easily, which saved some time to input data. It guided every step and I had no trouble filing both federal and state tax. Last year, the fee for e-file had to be claimed by mail-in rebate. However, this year, there was no need to send in mail-in rebate.

Taxcut Premium & State with eFile

Strengths: Relatively easy to use; imports previous year data from other formats; free eFile; can be installed on more then one computer/laptop

Weakness: Printing to PDF does not work as advertised; seems to have some printing problems; investments/capital gains section weak

I used TaxCut for the past couple of years and this version seemed to be working better then the older ones. Because they didn't offer free eFile I bought this one with the eFile offer. Strengths: Esy interface, excellent walkthrough

I had used in previous years turotax, and it was really expensive now. So, I decided to try taxcut, which had everything including efile fees. It was pretty smooth and give this product heads up.

TaxCut Premium + State + Efile

Strengths: Simple, easy to use, straight-forward interface. Includes Federal & State e-file (valued at $31.90). No additional charge for direct deposit.

Weakness: Did not automatically save file every few minutes, even though it was set. Did not break down the short & long term capital gains. Doesn't have the option of importing tax data from other websites.

I've been using TaxCut since 2001, with the exception of 2004, which I used TurboTax. I've always liked the fact that TaxCut is made by the folks at H&R Block, which gives me a greater confidence that the software is made accurately. Strengths: Very good product with walkthrough and efile.

Weakness: The price has raised considerably this year for efile.
