Good mix of new and familiar features
Strengths: Keeps the time-tested interface while adding a few good features where they count.
Weakness: It's still quite expensive!
I don't build databases on a regular basis, and in a sense, that is part of why FileMaker is a good choice. It is really quite easy to build a simple database and make it look decent, and provides ways to extend into complex database structures as needed.
