Description
World of Warcraft didn't invent the online role-playing genre, but it certainly benefits from the missteps of other titles that have come before. A mind-boggling array of improvements in graphics, gameplay, networking, and interface--really every category--makes this game the crown prince of the genre, a great starting place for newbies, and a challenge to any other MMORPG currently in the works.

Software Name: World of Warcraft
Software Main Type: Game
Strengths: This game is totally addictive and "should have been" the last game you'd ever buy:-)
Weakness: Customer Service is a "totally unaccountable, non-existant, rubber stamp joke" and sadly the game designers change the rules/guidelines without reason (or accountability to you) every tuesday??? :-(
I personally had 10 totally Different Characters at once in this game; 5 on the Alliance side(Good Guys) and 5 on the Horde side(Bad Guys)... some all the way up to 45th level! All of them were months of time devoted to each one, because I played them the hardest way known in this game; totally solo! This was a passion for me that was crushed little by little with every Tuesday's updates! Sadly...
Strengths: Interesting game play, different areas to explore, combat amazing, PvP potental nearly unlimited
Weakness: Horriable Customer Support, Game Play Issues, Server Lag Issues, Patching Issues, Many Bugs (after 2 years), Dishonest Player Base, Dishonest and Deciving Company Policies, Over Charged Fees
I have been playing World of Warcraft since release and I have fun with it but that is becauase I have a open mind about bugs and how every MMO is a constant work in progress. World of Warcraft should not have been released when it was it was one of the worst releases in MMO history, great sales wise but programming was horrable and uncompleted, servers crashed frequently, GM support was non...
Strengths: Graphics are nice and crisp (stylized like cartoons though). Solo and duo is very possible up till you hit the level cap. PvP has some point. Lots of quests at lower levels.
Weakness: Quests are very simple and mindless. Once you hit max level the only thing left is PvP and infinite Instance runs for a small chance at good items in groups of 10 to 40 people. Too time intensive.
I played this game in beta. I played it from release. I maxed out a few characters (both horde and alliance) on a two different servers. I played horde on a pvp server (StormReaver). What I love: The early game is lots of fun. You can play it solo or in a group of up to five people. I love that in PvP factions can not chat at each other so there is no trash talking that ruins so much PvP in other...
Strengths: Pretty graphics, many servers, choice of horde or alliance
Weakness: Initial addictiveness wears off quickly. Not enough new content to justify monthly money grab. Non existent tech support and indifeerent or absent GM's. LAG big time lag issues. 25$ a month.
repetitive unimaginative quests. Instances and battlegrounds wait time up to 4 hrs ... Monster Farming quickly supplies characters with top notch items. experience far to easy to earn. Far to easy to become filthy rich in a very little time. No guarantee that enough space on server for you to play with friends. Once you pick a server your stuck with it until new servers come up or someone on...
Strengths: The vast amounts of weapon and armor sets. Handy Atlas book (sold seperate) dont waste your money on the strategy guide.
Weakness: $180.00 to play for 1 year plus game purchase for Blizzard's extremely slow servers which often have downtime Bubbly graphics
My biggest problem with the game was Blizzard's horrible servers. With as many people paying $180.00 for yearly acccess to play the game, you would think the servers wouldn't be a problem. THINK AGAIN. I found myself more times than I wanna count waiting for the que to to get from 260 to 0. This wasn't 1-2 min wait I'm talking 5-15 min just to get in the game. God forbid the game crash just to...
Strengths: This game has a lot of potential to be one of the best games created. Its very fun, easy to immerse yourself in, and has a highly addictive aspect. The game is frequently evolving and changing.
Weakness: THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME. BUY WITH CAUTION WHEN PLAYING THIS GAME.
As a veteran MMORPG player, this is one of the best games I have come across. Its extremely easy and for a causal gamer or a newbie this is an excellent way to grasp the essentials of MMORPG games. However, as stated by many players, this game has many faults. - First, the games quests are as stated numerous but highly tedious. It takes no ingenuity or wit to finish most of the quests, and if you...
Strengths: Efficient, easy to use interface, graphics, quest design
Weakness: character customization a little limited
I have played EQ, Horizons, SWG and this is the very best online game of all. The interface is easy for me to use, I don't loose a lot of time falling into canals, waiting for help to retiriev my body, etc. I can achieve quickly with just the right amount of effort. The graphics are beautiful and the game ambience is compelling. The music is not intrusive. My higest level is 15 and the game play...
Strengths: Easy to get started. I admit it is a little addictive at first, but only for a very short time. There is a multitude of quests; they say there's over 2,000
Weakness: This game has TERRIBLE LAG PROBLEMS!!! Characterization is very limited and impersonal. Travel is crap. Quests are easy and tremendously boring. This game has many problems with it.
I bought this game thinking it would be great, for the fact that its been around for a long time. I had never been so wrong. I wasn't impressed with the graphics either. I just thought it was repetitive and extremely boring. Overall the lag and bug problems make this game not worth buying.
Strengths: career and skill options are addicting
Weakness: Lag problem, travel is tedious, very difficult to find team members, customization limited
As stated in the earlier reviews this game suffers from a serious lag and bug problem. The graphics are outdated and it is difficult to organize a team due to the inferior chat system. On the up side the actual world map you can explore is far superior to any other MMRPG out there. The ability to choose and perfect your skills is also addicting. I found myself running around much of the time...

World of Warcraft tosses out what's bad and focuses on what's good about MMORPGs.

The forest was lush, and vividly dressed in an array of colors. The tiny night elf hunter was not fooled though – danger lurked ahead. He checked the young night saber bounding beside him, the creature loyal to a fault. This was his protection, his extended attacking arm. If trouble came up suddenly behind him, the cat would respond. He looked back to the unseen path he followed. A fallen tree...

Blizzard Entertainment World of Warcraft
Strengths: You can play this game solo or in groups--something unusual in many of the new MMORPGs. There are over 2,000 quests!
Weakness: They have a lag problem. Strangely, this happens in areas that are hardly populated as much as it does in the large gathering areas.
Ultima Online started it (MMORPGs) and set the standard pretty high for others to follow. However, its outdated graphics and very old game engine are causing many loyal fans (like me) to look for an alternative. I didn't like EQ. DAoC, the latest version, is pretty good. I really enjoyed SWG--but WoW is now top of the pile. There are over 2,000 quests--and they are varied, interesting and often...
