Strengths: including promotional material and the game Quake II with its expansions, eye-popping graphics, great audio and pretty cool weapons
Weakness: Not very many people playing Multiplayer.
You can play as humans or stroggs in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture-the-Flag modes. The graphics are excellent. You will need a decent system to run it smoothly. If you are a first-person-shooter fan, go get it!
Strengths: Graphics, single-user play
Weakness: quirky install, could not get multi-player to work
I played a bit of Quake and Doom while in college. I remember the multi-player shoot-em-up fests that we played in the computer lab. I saw this on sale and took a change. First, the bad as I hit it first. I had issues trying to get this installed. I think part of the problem may be because I had Virtual CD software installed (I don't want kids to have to switch CDs). Just had flakey error...
Strengths: Graphics, effects (weapons), includes Quake2
Weakness: could not get multi-player to work well
If you loved the prior versions, you will love this one. It is a great 1st person, graphics are cool as well. I have an older P4(1.6), but it works well for me. The addition of Quake 2 on the DVD was also a great blast from the past.
Strengths: Graphics.
Weakness: System hog.
Quake 4 Special Edition DVD for your PC. Awesome graphics. Fun game play. If you do not have a more recent system or a weak computer, the game will suck for it. But if you have a good machine, you will have fun if FPS' are your thing.
Strengths: * Very good graphics * Great Single Player campaigns * Great Story Line
Weakness: * Requires a lot of resource to play * Multiplayer games needs a lot to be desired * No bots in multiplayer mode
I never really like FPS, preferring Strategy games. However, this got me to start FPS. Graphics are great and story line's excellent. I won't give up Strategy game but this game opens me up to play FPS. I need to upgrade my system to get better game play.
Strengths: Great graphics, Smart enemies, Feels great fighting with a squad.
Weakness: Some graphical glitches.
Quake is back. Using the brilliant DOOM3 engine (only now you can see stuff) to great effect. Enemies dodge and hide behind rocks and crates and the guns sound very powerful and even include flash lights built it! The squad mechanics in the beginning of the game feel like a futuristic Call of Duty with huge cannons firing in the background and bullets flying everywhere.
Strengths: I've been playing the Single Player for a while now and really like it. Graphics are very well done.
Weakness: I tried the multiplayer and the other reviewers are correct, it is pretty weak,
Single Player is quite fun. Only thing is that gameplay is very linear but then I expected that as most of these games are. I had trouble with certain aspects (missions where you have to guard a teammate), I've found that they sometimes run ahead of you and get killed so you need to take out enemies quickly. You actually have to decide which weapons to use to kill an opponent.
Strengths: Get Quake 2 and expansions included.
Weakness: Multi-player
Quake 4 follows quite nicely in the footsteps of it's predecessors. Single player action is decent as well as graphics. You really should have a high end system to do this game justice. Multi player action didn't do much for me though. Overall still a great title to have in your collection.
Strengths: Excellent gameplay, storyline. Is basically the game Doom 3 should have been.
Weakness: Short single player experience, multiplayer modes are lacking.
Personally, I like single-player games, so the lack of any real multi-player fun was not really a concern for me. Doom 3 was a great engine demo, but Quake 4 (and the team at Raven) really brought the engine to life in this game.
If it's not broken, don't fix it
Strengths: Single player a lot better, smooth gameplay
Weakness: Pseudo-weakness: multiplayer has few changes
If you liked Quake games in the past, you won't be disappointed. In fact, iD has added a fairly entertaining single player campaign. Still, I enjoyed the FEAR and Doom 3 a bit more than Quake's single player. I really bought this game for the multiplayer since a bunch of my friends play. Great, cheap alternative to Unreal Tournament. Oh, some of the multiplayer maps are the same from before -...
